Brooksberry
Steeped in Innovation
More than 400 sq. ft.
Drawing InspirationThis multi-million-dollar, eight-year-old contemporary home needed a kitchen to match the lifestyle of the owners. They brought in Brooksberry to design a space that would be conducive to entertaining, but would also house a high-tech center to keep them up to speed with both work and family members. The contemporary style of the room was completed with pearwood cabinetry, a stainless steel and bamboo aircraft-painted Rietti table, Harry Bertoia counter stools and tech cable lighting systems.
Functional Frills Convenience was key to the redesign of the space. The cleanup area integrated a filtered/chilled/hot water tap near the glass storage, and a custom "wiggle" sink was installed on the outer island for prep work. For entertaining, a drink cellar with accented woven wood paneled doors beneath it centers on the family room, and the bar area near the dining room features a pull-out liquor cabinet and wine storage.
The Winning Point A high-tech touch-screen computer, large flat-screen TV and camera with teleconferencing capabilities were installed for convenience while cooking and to stay in touch with family members away at school at dinnertime.
Judges' Comments"The contemporary style of this kitchen is very exciting. The high-tech features really stand out among the competition, and make it something unique in St. Louis."
