CHALLENGE: To transform and expand an outdated kitchen with structural limitations into a unique, flowing space for the family.

SOLUTION: When Paul and Anne Ronzio decided to expand their St. Louis County home and create a well-designed, open floor plan, they couldn't imagine how perfectly the final product would suit their busy lifestyle. While their old kitchen was small and closed off from the rest of the house, the newly renovated kitchen is spacious and connected with the family room, dining room and mudroom to provide a convenient gathering space for the family and guests.

The experts at Bella Homes, LLC created a stylish yet functional space that has truly become the heart of the home. “We helped put the pieces together by combining the visions of the architect, kitchen designer and homeowners in a cohesive way,” says Jeff Battram, operations manager of Bella Homes. Their work, however, took careful planning and a touch of creativity. Because the kitchen was realigned in the expansion process, the builders used visually interesting angles to overcome limitations such as a large load-bearing wall. “The solution of the angles was perfect,” says Anne. “Everyone comments on the unique flow, and we like having something so unexpected. Bella turned the limitations into the features we love most.”

Stunning details enhance the kitchen's elegant design. Black Wood-Mode cabinets, taupe-green granite with black veining, and stainless steel appliances lend a refined feel to the space, while a backsplash of vertical slate tile ties the palette together. Recessed lighting and gold pendant lights are among the finishing touches that complete the brilliant renovation. “It turned out better than we could have imagined,” say the Ronzios.

“Our family loves spending time in the new kitchen space.”
