This primary suite was part of a large renovation for a young family of doctors with two children. They both sought a soft, sleek aesthetic, but her Brazilian background influenced some exciting choices. The white painted barn door with a large inset mirror reflects a window and striking floor-to-ceiling European white oak linen cabinets with can inserts and ample storage. The engineered stone countertop features a low backsplash with rounded side splashes that reference the shapes of the vanity’s inset drawer pulls, sink cut outs and vanity lights. Graphic porcelain tile is paired with authentic marble skirting, a stunning picket Carrara marble mosaic on the floor and marble chair rail around the mirrors. The warm white walls and taupe ceiling bring warmth and depth and accentuate the marble veining. The shower features a tiled trough drain, double shower head and rain shower head, with a hidden niche within the knee wall, giving this bathroom plenty of practicality as well.
Why the judges love it:
Every feature of this bath proves to be intentional and purposeful. The shape of the tub appears designed for comfort and ergonomics while every hook is thoughtfully placed. The color of the ceiling balances the weight of the cabinet while the small-scale floor tile creates a strong base texture without taking away the focus from the marble walls.
