Outdoors in St. Louis

Outdoors in St. Louis

Written by: Julia Johns

If there’s anything St. Louisans can bond over, it’s the weather. We all know the story: jackets in the morning, shorts in the afternoon. It happens all the time, but we’ll never stop complaining. It’s our right. Recently, however, it’s just been hot. Thankfully, the heatwave is over, and we’ve recovered from that unbearable heat—even though some of our plants may still be looking a little parched. So now that milder weather is here—and hopefully sticking around for a while—it’s time to have some summer fun. Here are three outdoor activities to do before Missouri decides to send us another scorching forecast or before the leaves starting falling.

Have you ever been to Creve Coeur Lake? It’s big, beautiful, and there’s so much to do. If you choose to rent a canoe, kayak or paddleboard, follow it up with a picnic under a gazebo. It’ll be a perfect day.

Missouri is known for is its caves, and they’re really cool to visit. Literally. Even if it’s blistering hot, a tour of one of Missouri’s amazing caves will provide immediate relief.

After a day a Creve Coeur Lake or touring a cave, you can Barcycle around Soulard with your friends. It’s just like an ordinary bar crawl, except it’s on a 14-passenger quadricycle. Without a doubt, you are your friends will have a great time.
